Sosua is located 20 minutes from the Puerto Plata International Airport on the north coast of the Dominican Republic, about a one-hour flight from Miami. The North Central Coast area has lots of beautiful scenery, great restaurants, local art, and plenty of things to do. Day trips to almost any other part of the island are easy, including major cities of Santiago and Santo Domingo. As for the climate, it's great--it's the Caribbean after all!

Villa Samia is part of a private estate that has 24-hour security and maid and laundry service. We also provide airport transportation.  We have sanitized domestic water and a reliable power system. All towels and bed linens are provided, and and we are pleased to do pre-arrival shopping for your food and beverage needs.

Please keep in mind that Villa Samia is NOT a “party place”. We live here too!

Transportation
Airport transportation is provided from the Puerto Plata airport, only 20 minutes away. Taxi services are available.
The beach is only a 20 minute walk from the Villa, and it's only a 15 minute walk to town where there are plenty of restaurants, shops, and drinking establishments.
 

Dining
Food is great, and mostly inexpensive. Bottled water is available everywhere (as is the Dominican beer, Presidente), and bar ice is made from purified water. We will be happy to recommend our favorite restaurants to our guests.

Beaches!
The famous Sosua beach is walking distance (20 minutes), and there are also smaller beaches nearby. The beachfront at the Villa is protected by petrified coral, preventing ocean access, but also assuring protection from erosion. The North Central Coast has never had a hurricane hit it directly.
Generally, being on the coast, there is a constant breeze that keeps temperatures cool. This breeze also provides great windsurfing. Cabarete, the world-famous windsurfing beach, is just a 20 minute drive down the road.

Stuff to do
There are many activities available in and around Sosua, but you may choose to just relax by the pool, use the gym, read a book, or have a massage. Lie on the beach, or walk into town and browse the shops. Some other activities include:

  • Surfing/Windsurfing
  • Snorkeling and diving at Sosua beach, or other destinations via tour boat
  • Horseback riding
  • Sailing
  • Sport fishing
  • Golf
  • River rafting
  • ATV and "monster truck" excursions
  • Tours to all parts of Dominican Republic
